KAIN BATIK IBU

  14. I see. Why they refuse to wear it and do so when they get married? How about the teenage or young girl staying in remote or kampung area? From John

  15. John..

Their reason because of comfortable and easier for them to do any activities and also their mom not encourage them to used it but after married normally they will used it as a culture especially when they went back to kampung/village.
There are not much different between town or 'kampung' girls now since everyone are thinking about fesyen and modern life else their family can bought for them not like last time..that's my opinion.

  16. I read some young girls blogs and some wrote about confinement after giving birth and they have to wear batik sarong. Some even comment they don't like to wear it but got no choice. Why is the reason for wearing it during confinement? From John.

  17. The only reason because it is easier for them to manage their baby but it's not compulsary to wear batik sarong and else during that period they must do massage so that much more easier for both of them during that process.

  20. Oh I see..that's good topic and maybe this is not the right place to ask about all this.To know the history about batik sarung i suggest you better ask someone who really stay at kampung especially the old women like grandmother.
For me of course i still use it but for us (guy) we call it kain pelikat.Almost same texture but different pattern/colour to differentiate between man and girls.

  21. Thanks got your advice. It is safe for an outsider especially like me, a Chinese, to walk into a Malay kampung to take photo of kampung people such as kampong kids and kampong girls wearing traditional blouse and sarong? Last week I drove past some Malay kampung and though of doing so but dare not. Also don't know whether it is ok and safe or not. ; ) from John.

  22. John..

My advice better you go to really kampung area outside from KL because they all are more friendly.I suggest you go to Kelantan or Trengganu whereis most of them still keep following the culture and you can find most of them still wear batik sarong. The only terrible part is for you to understand what are they talking because of their pure dialect

  23. I see. Thank for your advice. How about the young girls and teenages from these two states? Do they also follow the culture and wear batik sarong? If yes this is one subject I can work on.

    BalasPadam
  24. Yes..most of them still follow the culture not only wear batik but also others traditional things.Further more you also can visit and see a factory how they process batik (we call it 'mencanting' batik) located at Terengganu (just nearby the main road).
Since they are the supplier or manufacture of course you can ask anything about batik and I believe they must know everything about batik

  25. Thanks for all your help. Talking about these really kampung area away from city and town, seriously speaking, is it really safe for an outsider like me to explore? Worst, talk about carrying a camera to take photo? The people will sure give me a funny look and think I am doing something funny, intruding their privacy. I am also worried that I might be beaten up or they called police in the worst situation. What do you think? from John.

  26. It's save to be there.Actually anywhere we go if we are respect, polite and and smile to them they also do the same thing to us.If you want to take phote better ask permission from them before you do it to avoid any missunderstanding.

  27. Topik yg menarik.
